Azure Virtual Desktop and the move to hybrid

Image
Microsoft recently introduced the all-new Azure Virtual Desktop – with a change of name (from Windows Virtual Desktop), logo, capabilities, as well as pricing. Azure Virtual Desktop is a flexible cloud  virtual desktop infrastructure  (VDI) platform that securely delivers virtual desktops and remote apps with maximum control. The interest in Azure Virtual Desktop will only continue to grow in the coming months as businesses plan what the future of the workplace looks like, and for many this will be a hybrid work model. AVD fits perfectly into this model as it allows users to access everything they need to work, regardless of where they are located or what device they are using. Through the use of a Virtual Desktop, it also increases security, which has been a constant issue throughout the last year and a half of remote work. As the Virtual Desktops can be managed from a single point, this makes it easier for IT administrators to deploy new Virtual Desktops, as well as update and patc

What are the benefits of a multicloud strategy?

Image
When hosting Simplex Services in a public cloud, all organisations want their data to be protected in the event of any disaster. Hosting all the applications with a single cloud service provider (CSP) may invite trouble even if distinct data centres, availability zones or regions are chosen to host these applications with a specific CSP. Hence, multicloud. In case of a central component failure within a CSP infrastructure, it will affect all or most of the regions. This will lead to a major disaster for an organisation which has hosted its applications with that single CSP. There are also some use cases of regulatory compliance as well which may prohibit companies from hosting services in a specific geography or region. They would hence prefer to host their applications with a different CSP. My colleague, Mohit, has previously  written about the key criteria to adopt multicloud . How to choose a cloud service provider? Hosting all production applications with one CSP Hosting non-pro

Building Business Continuity with a Hybrid Workplace

Image
According to   a recent McKinsey survey   of 100 executives across industries and geographies, nine out of ten organisations will be combining remote and on-site working in the post-pandemic future. The survey confirms that productivity and customer satisfaction have increased during the pandemic. However, despite the embrace of a hybrid model, most organizations have only begun to think through and articulate the specifics of how to work it out. One of the primary requirements to prepare to embrace and benefit from the new workplace dynamic is investing in a technology stack that solves for remote collaboration and workflow. In the last edition of  #SimpleXConnect  on June 24, 2021, we discussed how the hybrid work model is no longer a theory, but a strategic move, with our panel of experts including Collins Daniel : Head – Workplace Technology, Larsen & Toubro Infotech Jason Kemsley : Technical Director, Uptime Solutions Mark Lyddon : Director & Infrastructure Regional Lead,

Augmenting IT modernisation initiatives with a successful automation strategy

Image
In an increasingly digital world, IT upgrades are essential for staying competitive. At the same time, modernisation initiatives are failing at an alarmingly high rate. We believe that some of the most significant roadblocks to modernisation can be overcome using automation. Many firms have been forced to enhance agility, efficiency, and scalability within their organisations in order to adapt to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, digital transformation programmes have accelerated, rethinking processes, services, and day-to-day operations for an increasingly digitized world. Businesses are stepping up their efforts to modernise IT to accommodate new digital projects and growing business requirements. Some IT modernisation efforts, on the other hand, are not always effective. They can be disruptive and difficult, especially for businesses that rely heavily on outdated or legacy technology stack. Digital transformation refers to enterprise initiatives that leverage
